The Marshmallow Pop Orchestra proudly presents "Songs to Fly Away to"

Photobucket
The Marshmallow Pop Orchestra is proud to present “Songs to Fly away to.” A collection of very personal songs written, recorded, and mixed very quickly between March 2007 to March 2009.

Perfect takes and polished mixes were not the goal of this album. Many musical parts and lyrics were written and recorded while the zip disks were running.

The songs were recorded exclusively on a BOSS BR-8 Digital 8 Track Recorder with two Department Store Keyboards (Casio / Yamaha), a BOSS BR-8, a “Rod Lama” distortion pedal, and a Weston guitar plugged directly into the recorder.

For an optimum listening experience, please listen to the entire album (since it is mostly chronological) while driving in the driver’s seat of an automobile.

Some of the musical influences from this period (2007 to 2009) included: T Rex, Thin Lizzy, the Beach Boys (Love You LP), Bright Eyes, the Yeah Yeahs Yeahs, Futurecop!, Ween, the Doors (various bootlegs), the Pixies, Jay Reatard, Cyndi Lauper (live at the Houston Summit 1984), the Ventures (live in Japan), the Cars (live 1984), David Bowie & SRV "live 1983," Neutral Milk Hotel, Jeremy Jay (Slow Dance), the Ramones, early 80’s electro / disco, Jay and the Americans (Cara Mia), many songs / random music from too many blogs, and the theme to Unsolved Mysteries.
